CrossFit Physio Day 5 (Formerly known as Lung Jail)

It was an OK day. Started with a class on relaxation and I am sorry to say it was pretty useless to me. After class I started my physio which was a 5km walk and some foam roller stretching. The walk was at a pretty high pace and I managed 4km in 59 minutes. Had a nap and took Cali to off leash. Weather is still ridiculously cold which makes it frustrating. I wanted to make a list of all the things I am grateful for so far:

  • Condo is in a perfect location close to Y, off leash and shopping
  • Yard for Cali is perfect
  • Drive to U of A is a quick 12 minutes
  • I get to start Physio at 10am and away from other CF girl
  • Mom & Dad, Family, Friends
  • Juan
  • Cali
  • Internet
  • IPAD
  • Shaw FreeRange
  • Unlimited hot water
  • Comfortable beds
  • Being an advocate for myself-always
  • Never surrendering
  • Texts, emails and fb messages to keep me going
  • Coke
  • Chocolate milk/milk combos
  • Epsom salt baths
  • Being sore
  • Being stable
  • Being independent
  • Dollarama
  • Watching Flames games
  • Oxygen
  • Fuzzy socks
  • Humidifier
  • Ice

I asked Juan today if he was witness to anyone getting their call while doing physio and he said yes- 5 times in his 11 years. How crazy would that be. There are 2 CF guys in their early 20’s post transplant doing physio in the gym. One seems to be doing good and the other is a bit of a whiner. The gym is full of pre and post liver, kidney, heart, lungs and pancreas patients. I guess recovery for liver recipients is quite difficult as a non functioning liver basically shuts down almost all the rest of the body. Sounds ominous. I am grateful my liver is in good shape. On a completely other note, Laquisha and I are thick as thieves. She’s off to the Dominican for a week tomorrow. She loves me. I noticed the pages of my workouts and notes about training were left on the Physio desk. Looks like a few more people might be interested in sipping the kool-aid. I have one day left for this week and can look forward to 2 sleep ins. For a person who usually didn’t rise until 11 am I have done remarkably well in getting my ass to bed early so I can actually get up at 7. As hard as its been I am grateful for the switch. I needed to change my sleep cycle.

That said I must sign off and get ready for bed. Looking forward to the weekend to veg. Thanks again for reading my journey blog.
